Daniel Joseph Silva

Daniel Joseph Silva
Daniel Joseph Silva was surrounded by family when he took his last breath on October 12, 2022 at the age of 81 while playing the song “Be Not Afraid”. Daniel is survived by his beloved wife, Sara Margarita (Maggie); loving children, Maria Silva (Russell Ingerson), Debra Silva (Juan Escobar); adoring grandchildren, Logan Thomas Ingerson- Silva, and Gabriel, Breanna and Cecilia Rose Escobar. Not to mention his daughters’ childhood friends Jenny, Nina, Sarah, and Marissa who were like family and children to him. Daniel was born on February 8, 1941 in Sacramento, CA. to Mary and Joseph Silva. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Theresa Silva; and son Michael Silva.
Daniel had a love for plants, animals, the environment, books, health, and our Lord through his Catholic faith. He instilled great values to his children, such as faith, and to give of one’s self. He was a frugal man but was always the first to give to someone in need; always donating to various religious and environmental organizations or helping out a family member or a friend. Ask him how he is doing and you would get a life story; have a medical problem and he knew just the cure. He was not an action taker or one to make plans; more of an analyst and thinker; but he loved people and being around them.
We love and miss you Daniel, Danny, Dan, Daddy, Grandpa, Papa. Your corky and sometimes inappropriate jokes will be sorely missed but we are sure you’re keeping them laughing in Heaven just as you kept us laughing up till the end. We know we can talk to you anytime, we have a lifetime of memories and you are looking out for us from up above with all your love and maybe putting in a good word for us to God. Just as you requested we are asking everyone to pray that you go straight to Heaven, even if we think you are already there.
The family wishes to thank the UCD Hospice and all its volunteers for the amazing care provided to both Daniel and his family in the last months of his life; along with family and friends who helped along the way with prayer and support. Also thank you to Sacramento Naturopathic Center for improving his quality of life while you could with your kind and family like environment. Thank you Father Michael for the several house calls to help Dan through his spiritual growth and cleansing through confessions and the sacraments; I’m sure you helped him get to Heaven! Thank you Father Luis for giving Dan his last and final Anointing of the Sick; every time he got it, it was like he gained an extra month with us as if he was given new breath. Finally thank you Celia for dedicating every Sunday to bring Dan the body of our Lord in his final months. We cannot thank all of you enough; we are forever grateful. May God bless each and every one of you!
