John “Craig” Danner, born on 4/4/44, in Eugene, Oregon, passed away peacefully on 1/4/25, in Citrus Heights, California. He was 80 years old.
Craig was the beloved son and only child of Jack and Marion Danner, who preceded him in death. He is survived by his devoted wife of over 57 years, Kirsten Danner; his daughter, Angie Furminger and her husband Mike Furminger, along with their children Tanner Armando, Harris Furminger, and Olivia Furminger; his daughter, Lindsay Karlin, and her children Holly Karlin and Scott Karlin.
Craig served his country with honor in the U.S. Navy while stationed in Vietnam during the war before pursuing higher education at the University of Oregon, where he earned his bachelor’s degree. His professional career was both diverse and rewarding. He began as a buyer for Bullocks Portland and Macy’s San Francisco, later co-owning The Drapery Showcase with Kirsten. Together, they also found fulfillment working in cemetery sales at Oak Hill Funeral Home in San Jose, Davis Funeral Home in Las Vegas, and Mount Vernon Memorial Park in Citrus Heights.
Craig was a skilled handyman who was always saving his daughters money as their resident “installer.” He was a lifelong sports enthusiast, known for his unwavering support of the Oregon Ducks, San Francisco Giants & 49ers. He loved living in San Jose for 27 years, spending holidays and get-togethers with friends who were more like family. Craig was a lifelong liberal that managed to keep relationships with his conservative relatives and friends, a mighty feat indeed.
Craig’s legacy is one of love, laughter, and a life lived with purpose. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
A graveside service to honor his life will be held at Calvary Cemetery on Friday, February 7, 2025, at 12 p.m., followed by a reception at the Calvary Funeral Center, 7100 Verner Ave., Citrus Heights, California.
