In Loving Memory of Constance Ann Fontes

March 12, 1935 – July 20, 2025

Constance Ann Fontes, lovingly known as Connie, was born on March 12, 1935, to Alice Esther Alves and Antonio Mendes. She spent her early years in Onset, Massachusetts, later relocating to Connecticut.  Esther later married Joe Gomes, and together they made their home in Sacramento, California — the place Connie would call home for much of her life.

Connie met the love of her life, Melvin Fontes, while attending Wareham High School in Massachusetts. The two were married on October 19, 1957, in Sacramento, and went on to build a beautiful life together.

A devoted mother, Connie raised four children: Keith (1958), Kevin (1960), Kris (1962), and Kelly (1969). She was a proud and loving mother-in-law to Christina (Kevin) and Ron Hyde (Kelly). Her legacy lives on in her five cherished grandchildren — Coty, Katie, Dominic, Alexandra, and Jack — and her four beloved great-grandchildren: Evan, Mila, Dawson, and Jace.

Connie was a woman of deep faith and a dedicated Catholic. She was an active parishioner at St. Charles Borromeo and later joined Saints Peter and Paul church.

She was preceded in death by her husband Melvin in 2025, and by her sons Keith (2022) and Kris (1997). Their memories remained close to her heart always.

Connie will be remembered for her sharp wit, unmistakable laugh, and unwavering loyalty to those she loved. Her presence brought laughter and strength to everyone around her. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 6 at the Calvary Funeral Center, 7100 Verner Ave., Citrus Heights, CA  95621

• Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m., celebrated by Fr. Renier Siva
• Reception to follow at Noon in the hall at the funeral center
• Committal service at Calvary Cemetery
