Billy Gene Reeves, 89 of Rocklin, passed away at home on October 11, 2023 with his wife Christine and son Mike by his side.
He was born in St. Louis to Jesse David Reeves and Christine Baker on February 2, 1934.He had an active childhood, enjoying his time on the baseball diamond or playing hockey when the local pond froze over. After graduating from Ferguson High School, he joined the US Air Force, where he spent time all over the world as a radio operator on C-119 cargo aircraft. He was fortunate to see many wondrous sights around the world like the Pyramids and the Northern Lights over Greenland, but he was most fond of attending Oktoberfest in Germany while he was stationed there. He spent time in many countries around the world supporting various military missions and spoke fondly of his experiences the rest of his life.
After his time in the military he graduated from the University of Missouri where he was a member of the first TV broadcast on campus. After college he entered the world of floor covering, meeting many interesting people and a few celebrities along the way. He was an excellent salesman for many years including many types of floor coverings, and had an excellent eye for color. He was an avid golfer during this time and even played adult baseball into his 50s. His loyalty to the St. Louis Cardinals never wavered throughout his life, and he enjoyed watching their 9 World Series titles during his life. Later in life he loved working on his model train sets, building model airplanes and collecting sports memorabilia.
He is survived by his wife Christine, children Mike, Craig, Victoria and Scott along with 4 grandchildren. He was a great father to all his children, and loved his family very much. He had a great sense of humor and made many friends over the years.
A Celebration of Life will be held on November 10th at Calvary Cemetery and Funeral Center, 7100 Verner Avenue, Citrus Heights. Doors open at 12:30 with a Mass at 1, followed by internment. Please contact Mike at mike@mikereevesphotography.com if you are interested in attending.
