Armand N. Carano

Born October 28, 1940, in New York City, passed away surrounded by his family on January 22, 2026, in Citrus Heights, California. He moved to Sacramento as an infant and spent nearly his entire life in the area. A graduate of Sacramento High School, Armand later served in the U.S. Armed Forces before earning a degree in History from California State University, Sacramento.

Armand enjoyed a long career with the Sacramento County Department of Airports. Outside of work, he loved cooking special meals for his family, traveling the country, and camping; he especially loved the magic of Disneyland.  He found joy in sharing his love of U.S. History with anyone who would take the time to listen.   Armand played football and baseball in High School.  He eventually grew into coaching Little League and later umpired for local baseball leagues.

Armand was married to Glynis Carano for 20 years. Together they raised their three children in the Sacramento and Greenhaven area.  They attended Saint Anne’s Catholic Church in Sacramento and Saint Anthony’s Catholic Church in Sacramento.

In 1996, he married Susan (Susie) Remington. They spent their treasured retirement years traveling the country and moving to different cities to remain close to the family they loved, eventually making their home in Corcoran, California.

After Susie’s passing, Armand moved to Calera, Alabama, to be near his daughter Michelle and her children. He returned to Sacramento in 2018, where he cherished time with his children and grandchildren.  As a devoted Catholic, he spent Sundays at the Sacramento Cathedral of Blessed Sacrament & Divine Mercy Catholic Church. He loved sharing movies with friends and even organized movie nights at his assisted living community.  He found special joy in watching his great granddaughter, Charlotte, grow and play.

He is survived by his brother Vincent Carano, his children:  Cheryl Baker (Phil); Michelle Kidd (Jerry); and Steven Carano (Andrea); his beloved grandchildren: Amanda Rogers (Michael); Jessica & Matthew Baker; Brianna, Logan & Lauren Bennett; Adelyn & Carter Carano; and Autum Kidd; and great-granddaughter, Charlotte Halterman. He was preceded in death by his wife, Susie, his grandson, Phillip, and his brother, Donald Carano.

Armand will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
