Alexander Antonio Cortez

My beautiful son Alex, unexpectedly gained his wings on February 19,2025 in Sacramento, CA at the young age of 27.

Alex was born in Sacramento, Ca on March 5,1997 and lived in West Sacramento, Ca. He is survived by his parents Martha Ramos-Lopez and Antonio Cortez Jr, his sisters Alyssa and Adrianna Cortez, Grandparents Ymelda Ramos-Lopez and Efren Lopez and his uncles, aunts, cousins and friends who miss him dearly.

Alex was a well-known published, Chicano poet in the Sacramento Community who was working on youth programs in West Sacramento and Sacramento as well as preparing to publish his first book. Alex is the Co-founder of GTFO Poetry and Capital Cadence Group. He was very loved and supported by not only his family but also by many in the Sacramento poetry community.

Alex was a quiet but very giving person with a heart of gold and has a smile that would light up any room. He loved and cared for his family and friends and was known as a protector and mentor to many. Alex will always be remembered as a genuine person, with a huge heart and positive energy that cannot be replaced. His voice, poetry and memory will forever live on through his family and close friends.

Alex you are greatly missed son and will forever be in our hearts.
